Singer, songwriter, and producer Ross Mintzer returns with his latest album, ‘aimless mystics’, a dynamic fusion of heartfelt songwriting, modern electronic production, and global sonic influences.
Crafted over the past year, ‘aimless mystics’ reflects Mintzer’s deep self-reflection and curiosity to push sonic boundaries. Opening with the uplifting dance-pop anthem “cosmic farewell”, the album sets a vibrant tone with layered female vocals, electric rhythms, and club-ready production. Lead single “frequencies” exemplifies his genre-bending approach, shifting from melancholic electronics into bright EDM textures, with vocoder-style vocals and melodic twists that are unmistakably Mintzer.
The album’s guiding concept, drawn from Buddhist philosophy and Stoic teachings, informs both its emotional and musical direction. Recorded largely with a legendary Neumann U47 microphone, once housed in John Lennon’s Tittenhurst Park Studio, Mintzer’s vocals and saxophone benefit from unmatched warmth and presence, adding depth to the immersive soundscape.
Collaborations, including co-production with Italian producer Lorenzo Cosi, and nods to electronic innovators like Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, further expand the album’s global yet personal feel. With aimless mystics, Mintzer solidifies his position as a forward-thinking force in electronic music, creating a record that’s as emotionally resonant as it is rhythmically compelling.
