Rucks – Whatever EP

SoSure Music returns late April with Rucks’ ‘Whatever’ EP, comprising three original tracks from the budding producer.

London based artist Rucks delivers some fresh material via the SoSure imprint here, following his ‘Find Someone’ EP on the label in late 2014 which garnered attention from contemporary tastemakers such as wAFF, Waifs & Strays and Droog. SoSure Music has come a long way since its inception in September last year and now eight releases deep is on the radar of many leading artists in electronic music with support coming from the likes of Larry Heard, DJ Sneak, Iron Curtis and KiNK.

Title cut ‘Whatever’ takes the lead on this release and sees Rucks offer up a bass heavy house workout fuelled by elongated sub tones, warbling pad lines an amalgamation of vocal chops and his archetypal swinging drum style.

Following is ‘So Bright’ which lays its focus on atmospherics with bubbling bass hits, airy synth sequences and soul-infused vocal lines while a more reduced rhythmic approach carries the dreamy groove for its five minute duration. Rounding things off is ‘Hiding’ which takes the vibe back to shuffling drum patterns and murky vocal murmurs, while saw-tooth bass hits and wandering organ hooks instill a rugged grit to shape things up.

Rucks’ ‘Whatever’ EP is out on SoSure Music 27th April 2015.
