Saatchi Gallery: Sweet Harmony: Closing Party With Movement

To celebrate Sweet Harmony: Rave | Today’s successful run at Saatchi Gallery in London, the Gallery is collaborating with Movement Entertainment, the producers of renowned international festivals Movement and Kappa Futur Festival for a specially curated closing party on Saturday 14^th September.

Saatchi Gallery will be extending its opening hours to 9pm, to welcome live DJ sets from Pawsa and Dennis Cruz, from the London based rave crew Solid Grooves. They are also giving Movement the chance to exhibit artwork and photography, showcasing the festivals through the eyes of world-renowned photographers including: Oliviero Toscani, Massimo Vitali, Settimio Benedusi and Marco Walker. Plus Smiling Sisters – the force behind all the festival’s creatives – will also be curating all video and animation content. 

Movement Entertainment is quickly becoming as synonymous with art and culture as it is electronic music. Keen to showcase Torino’s rich cultural identity, both Kappa Futur Festival and Movement Festival now offer access to the city’s wealth of art galleries and museums. For the first time this year, Kappa Futur Festival launched a hugely successful VIP Experience ‘Art & Techno’ – the ultimate weekend of luxury for art and techno lovers. And Movement Festival 2019 runs parallel to leading international contemporary art fair ARTISSIMA. For Movement Entertainment the opportunity to collaborate with Saatchi Gallery is an exciting step forward and helps cement their ethos that art and techno go hand in hand.

With Sweet Harmony soon to announce the beginnings of its international tour and partnerships, it is fitting that we have a closing party with two major international festivals.

Kappa Futur Festival and Movement Festival in Turin, showcase the best of dance music talent – going beyond being just techno festivals. With their “Art And Techno” experiences, the festivals encourage their community to involve itself within the culture of Turin and to celebrate the festivals within the exhibition on the final day made total sense.”

“Sweet Harmony : Rave | Today was always planned to have a festival feel – with developing elements to the exhibition. To involve photography, artwork and sounds by collaborating with two major European festivals as part of our closing party just makes sense. Creating space within the exhibition to celebrate what has been a fantastic exhibition with the coolest rave crew from London Solid Grooves and artwork from the master Olivero Toscani is a huge honour.

Movement Torino is one of the world’s leading electronic music festivals, launched in 2006 as the European cousin of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Philly Adams, director of Saatchi Gallery believes it’s important to highlight the power of festival culture, with a further nod to Detroit in addition to the artwork by Liam Young included within the show already.

All attendees to the Sweet Harmony closing party will be able to get discounts off the upcoming Movement (31^st October) whose lineup includes DJ heavyweights Jamie Jones x Joseph Capriati, plus unmissable solo sets from the likes of Belgium’s in demand selector Amelie Lens, revered Spanish spinners Dennis Cruz and Eddy M, plus Anastasia Kristensen, DJ Bone, ANOTR, PAWSA and Michael Bibi.

Kappa Futur Festival was launched in 2009 and is known as the biggest summer event in the Italian calendar for electronic music. This year was the most successful year to date with over 50, 000 tickets sold with a lineup that included: Amelie Lens; Boys Noize; Carl Cox, Derrick May; Nic Fanciulli, Nina Kraviz; Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler and Ricardo Villalobos.
