Sacha Robotti announces new Slothacid label & 25-date open-to-close tour

Not content with a collection of critically acclaimed releases under his belt on labels like Dirtybird, Octopus Records and This Ain’t Bristol, Sacha Robotti has been building a solid reputation as one of the scene’s most proficient producers and a firm festival favourite across North America. However, all that was merely preparation for what’s still to come and 2019 looks to be his biggest year yet as he announces the imminent launch of his own record label – Slothacid – with a devasting four-track EP and an extended open-close tour concept that will see him showcase the Slothacid sound across 24 dates all over North America this fall.

Not one to do things by halves, the triple announcement from Sacha lays out his plans for the foreseeable with a focus on homegrown projects which truly demonstrate his inimitable sound and dedication to the Sloth brand that is now synonymous with the veteran producer. The first step in this plan comes to fruition on July 17th with the first single from the imprint’s debut EP, ‘Welcome To Slothacid’ – a four-track tour-de-force in how to do low-slung warehouse beats and the first single, ‘Tail Of A Siren’ is a serious statement of intent to set the scene.

A glitchy, groovy affair that layers an array of effects and samples over a rolling bassline, Tail Of A Siren’ is clearly intended for those early-hour, basement parties. Chopped-up vocals and precise synths work together to create an eerie, futuristic vibe that sets the scene for everything Slothacid stands for, and a tease of what’s still to come. Speaking about the new label, Sacha said:

“Slothacid Rec is a label for me to express my musical creativity on, while retaining creative control and schedule of my own output. I’ve been DJing techno and house music since 1995 and have immersed myself in the subculture ever since. I had the opportunity to DJ in many countries and spread my message worldwide, before moving from Berlin to the West Coast. My spectrum of experiences as a globe-trotting sloth will be reflected by Slothacid. The mission of the label is to bring you music between light and darkness, that takes you on a journey.”

With the full EP primed and ready to drop on August 30th, ‘Tail Of A Siren’ is a taster of the sound Slothacid will represent, and the three remaining tracks, ‘Forget Tomorrow’ (created in collaboration with LA-based duo tau0n), ‘Generator’ and ‘Miles From Home’ will surely cement this as standout release on a label that means business. Once the dust around the EP has settled, September 13th will see Sacha hit the road on the first stop of the tour. Welcome To Slothacid: An Open To Close Trip will see Sacha take control of the night from doors open to doors close, and with 25 dates already confirmed, you can expect to see a lot more of Sacha Robotti over the coming months.
