Sam Tompkins unveils hard-hitting lyric video for ‘Critical’

His third release of 2019, exciting UK vocalist Sam Tompkins returns with affecting new single ‘Critical’, out now.

An engrossing ballad critiquing the way society encourages us to pass judgement on others, ‘Critical’ is a heartfelt track delivered with Sam’s trademark gut-wrenching passion. The engaging lyric video is the perfect visual representation for this. It begins with him addressing his perceived physical imperfections and where he believes these feelings have come from, before the camera zooms out and we find that Sam’s torso is covered in hand-written insults that have presumably been directed at him over the years.

It marks the third single release from his hotly anticipated ‘From My Sleeve To The World’ EP, which has a release date of 9th October. The first single, ‘Follow Suit’,  was a similarly hard-hitting track which was an ode to Sam’s own personal struggles following the suicide of a close friend. This was followed up by ‘You Broke My Heart So Gently’, a mature yet sobering take on the aftermath of a breakup.

Sam recently announced a six-date UK tour to mark the EP release, with performances in Dublin (11th), Glasgow (12th), Manchester (14th), London (15th), Brighton (16th) and Bristol (17th) lined up for November.

With the EP dropping the month before the tour begins Sam looks to solidify his already burgeoning reputation; enlisting celebrated Birmingham grime artist Jaykae on the projects stand-out cut ‘Faded’
