Samurai Breaks hurtles into Speaker Freaker Records with its second-ever release, “Screamer Falling Stabs,” out August 22nd. Born in Scotland and raised in Yorkshire, the UK producer has become a vital architect of high-speed rave mutations, celebrated for his precision drum programming and genre-melding instincts spanning bassline, jungle, footwork, rave, juke, and grime.
“Screamer Falling Stabs” is a juke-charged jungle weapon brimming with controlled chaos. Blitzing syncopated rhythms tear through a barrage of clattering percussion, while zooming hoover basslines and pitched-up vox slice across the mix. At its peak, an onslaught of descending rave synth oscillations mimics the sensation of tumbling endlessly through the void—a visceral trip only Samurai Breaks could engineer.
The single has been locked away for safekeeping for a few years, Samurai Breaks admits, and he’s excited for it to now be seeing the light of day, saying, “This one is a heater from the vaults! I made it a couple years back for a vinyl that never came out—it always smashed in the club, so thought it was well worth bringing this one back up.”
No stranger to collaboration, Samurai Breaks has linked with forward-thinking talents including Napes, Audio Gutter, Chimpo, and Toby Ross, while putting his touch on remixes for The Glitch Mob, High Contrast, Lu.Re, ENiGMA Dubz, and Brasstax. His sound has received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Rinse FM, with DJ Mag naming him ‘Best Breakthrough Producer’ of 2021.
On stage, Samurai Breaks channels the same frenetic energy, igniting crowds at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, Boiler Room, and beyond. With upcoming sets at Fabric, Patterns, Under The Arches, and The Fox and Firkin—plus, a newly announced run of dates across Australia and New Zealand—he continues to expand his global footprint.
With “Screamer Falling Stabs,” Samurai Breaks sets the tone for Speaker Freaker’s bold vision: a platform for raw, unfiltered rave innovation pushing UK bass culture into uncharted territory.
