San Cisco drop dreamy video ‘Honeycomb’

Australian indie royalty San Cisco reveal their latest video for ‘Honeycomb’ – a light, airy and sweet new single that spotlights angelic vocals of Scarlett Stevens. The visual invites viewers into the mysterious and enchanting world of ‘Honeycomb’ where nothing is quite as it seems

Watch here:

Uncovering a new side of their sound we’re yet to hear from the trio, San Cisco take a slight sonic detour on the new single introducing elements of electronic, garage and house music throughout ‘Honeycomb’. For another sweet surprise, the light, airy and angel-like vocals of drummer Scarlett Stevens take centre stage on the new track – perfectly matching the dreamy, introspective mood the track lives in. “Honeycomb is about the moreish feeling of falling in love,” the band explain. “It’s about self love and self confidence and the joy of food. It treads this fine line of not wanting to lose yourself to love but also surrendering completely to someone and the sweet feeling that comes with that.”

Shot on location on the coastline of Prevelly and Gnarabup in the southwest of WA, the band worked with director Caeley Wesson to create the dream-like world of ‘Honeycomb’ we get a glimpse into in the video clip – a world where nothing is quite as it seems. “Caeley and I have always talked about doing something together and when she pitched the treatment for ‘Honeycomb’, I knew it was going to be really special,” Scarlett explains. “The song and the beat is already so different for us musically and I love that the visuals reflect that.”

Director Caeley Wesson adds “Scarlett is an icon and I have always wanted to work creatively alongside her to make something special. When she first sent me the track, I felt kindled with a strange nostalgia for its sugary garage beat under Scar’s dreamy voice and loved the exciting new sound direction for San Cisco. We filmed in the magic southwest of Western Australia, placing Scarlett and the band in that enchanting landscape, where the world of Honeycomb revealed itself to us.”

‘Honeycomb’ follows on from recent singles ‘Horoscope’ and ‘Lost Without You’, and signifies the end of a long few months deep in studio sessions split between LA and Fremantle recording the trio’s forthcoming fifth studio album – a collaborative work with producer James Ireland (Pond, Cuco) and mixed by Grammy award winning engineer Neal H. Pogue (Steve Lacy, Tyler The Creator, Outkast) and Anthony Dolhai (Mø, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kesha).

Renowned for their energetic and engaging live shows, the band will take the stage this weekend at Darwin’s Bass In The Grass Festival on Saturday 20th May ahead of a headline show at The Roey in Broome, WA on Sunday 21st May. With no signs of slowing down, the festival favorites will also be playing Bali’s 2023 Dream Machine Festival and Mackay’s Be Social Fest in June.

Hailing from Fremantle, Western Australia, throughout their illustrious ten-year career indie-pop three-piece San Cisco have become one of Australia’s most successful independent artists amassing multiple accolades. Garnering millions of streams and critical acclaim through the release of four studio albums, San Cisco have toured the world selling out headline shows and appearing at festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, Lollapalooza, Reading & Leeds and many more. San Cisco’s fourth studio album Between You and Me in late 2020 – an album two years and at least one sadly remembered love affair in the making – reached top three in the ARIA Album Charts and featured leading Hottest 100 charting singles ‘When I Dream’, ‘Skin’, festival anthem ‘Reasons’ and ‘On The Line’. Album five on its way in 2023.

Renowned for their high-energy live show and feel-good records, San Cisco were recently nominated for the Reader’s Choice Awards at the 2023 Rolling Stone Awards alongside Lime Cordiale, CXLOE, Tones & I and more.
