San Franciscan trio KARMACODA releases new album You and I

The soulful San Franciscan trio KARMACODA released their new album You and I on 26 July, 2024 via Sola Musa Music which premiered with tastemakers CLASH Magazine. The iconic trio comprises Jessica Ford (vocals), Brett Crockett aka B. (vocals and producer), and Japanese-American multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno (bass and unique elements). With an extensive discography and multiple awards, KARMACODA has explored electronica, chill, trip-hop, R&B, rock, and dream pop in their twenty year career. Renowned for their ever-evolving sound, KARMACODA blends R&B and jazz lounge, drawing comparisons to formidable artists like Adele, Lana Del Rey and ofcourse Massive Attack.

KARMACODA has received support from acclaimed publications such as Wonderland Magazine, NOTION, EARMILK, Magnetic Mag, Hotpress, and METAL Magazine to name but a few. Their music has also received airplay from NPR Music and Irish National radio RTÉ 2XM. Having been placed in several film and TV scores, they’ve won several awards including the Hermes Creative Awards (Platinum) for the Lo-Fi Girl video and Make Me The Onevideo which also earned one Unglued Music Video (Gold) and three Davey Awards for Video Entertainment, Best Use of Music and Art Direction (all Silver).

The album focus track ‘You and I’ is an ethereal love ballad, where Jessica’s rich voice takes center stage. The instrumental arrangement is enthralling, with the melody of the piano beautifully intertwining with the lush vocals. The track is a wonderful culmination of jazz and R&B, and outlines the story of a toxic relationship where two people just can’t get enough of each other, and although there’s love it’s filled with challenging highs and lows.
