Diego Moreno - Sand Box
Foreign Language Records welcomes Berlin based Diego Moreno for a new EP that features remixes from Laesh and Jamal H.
Moreno is behind the respected Digital Delight Records which has held showcases everywhere from BPM Festival to Panama City. His own fresh music comes on the likes of Adam Shelton’s One Records and New York’s legendary Nervous, where he has delivered his own unique house music.
Kicking off the EP is the excellent ‘Sand Box,’ which has a textured analogue feel and wobbly synth lines. Airy hi hats bring height to the drums and squelchy pads add another layer to what is an original take on machine made house music.
Then comes ‘Bend,’ a brilliantly off kilter track with a freaky lead synth line squirming about the mix. The drums are raw and rock solid, the percussion sharp edged and jacked up. It makes for a high impact club cut designed for maximum destruction.
First of the remixes is Jamal H, a young Manchester artist with a cool tech house edge and various well positioned tracks on Traxsource. He draws on early Chicago house for his raw, chattery and percussive mix of ‘Sand Box’, with a ducking and diving bassline and slinky groove.
Robsoul alumnus and Italian producer Laesh then skillfully reworks ‘Bend’ into something equally physical, with pinging kick drums and crashing hits that will jerk the floor into action in a timeless house fashion.
This is an on-point EP of expressive house music.
