Sweden’s Zoo Brazil preps his inaugural release for Knee Deep In Sound this April, comprising 3 tracks with remixes from Mendo and La Fleur.
With releases dating back over a decade on revered imprints in the house and techno scene including M.A.N.D.Y’s Get Physical and Shir Khan’s Exploited, its surprising that Zoo Brazil hasn’t already found his way onto Hot Since 82’s innovative Knee Deep In Sound. No need to fret however, as this April he joins the celebrated roster of artists the label boasts, this time alongside remixes from Swiss luminary and Clarisse Records owner Mendo, plus fellow Swedish producer and Power Plant Records manager La Fleur.
Wobbling synths and a crisp percussive swing laced with shimmering hats and infectious snare fills kick start the EP in ‘Sand’, whilst dissipating effects and a craftily panning lead melody combine to hypnotic effect, creating a funky yet club-focused workout.
Mendo’s edit then utilises a more punchy and upfront rhythmic drive, condensing it into a mesmeric loop, upping the tempo whilst further processing and twisting the originals lead melody. La Fleur then rewires her minimal aesthetic into the track and goes deep with her edit of ‘Sand’, warping dub-tinged chords with organic delayed percussion and fusing them with an irresistibly warm yet subtle bass line.
Zoo Brazil’s ‘Sand’ EP drops 14th April 2017 on Knee Deep In Sound.
