Following her critically acclaimed double release on deadmau5’s ‘Mau5ville: Level 2’ compilation on November 16, Bulgarian techno icon Gallya now drops her latest juggernaut EP, ‘Sanity Can’t Wait’.
Out now via her very own Set About imprint, the two-sided cut is another masterclass in dark, immersive soundscapes from the Sofia-based label head, who is quickly making a name for herself as one of the most promising talents on the underground techno circuit.
Kick-starting the EP with the aptly named title track ‘Sanity Can’t Wait’, Gallya goes full throttle from the off, delivering an uncompromising blend of driving kicks, mind-bending synths and exquisitely layered drum samples to devastating effect.
On the flip, the burgeoning Bulgarian demonstrates her distinctive production versatility with ‘Unplug’, building a relentless assortment of growling basslines and frenetic percussion around merciless sirens and a solitary, intermittently repeated vocal sample, to close out the EP in emphatic fashion.
‘Sanity Can’t Wait’ comes just a few weeks before Set About’s huge end-of-year event at Hristo Botev Hall, Sofia on December 21, where Gallya – alongside label partner Metodi Hristov – will be joined by a selection of the label’s finest talent, to showcase Bulgaria’s thriving electronic music scene to over two-thousand techno enthusiasts.
