Sasha’s live performance at London’s Barbican now Sold Out

DJ, producer and remixer Sasha – recognised as one of the worlds’ most innovative icons of the electronic genre – will make his Barbican debut on 20th May 2017.

In this concert hall setting Sasha explores a more introspective side to his music in a special performance of his Late Night Tales release Scene Delete – an album that filters contemporary classical influences through the lens of House and Techno – as well as reinterpretations of music from his back catalogue.

Like the best of his DJ sets, Scene Delete is a journey. With Sasha joined on stage by a small chamber ensemble, the album unfolds as one brooding, undulating piece, sounding somewhere between the dark soundscapes of Burial and the music of modern composers like fellow Late Night Tales artists Nils Frahm, Bonobo and Jon Hopkins.

The second half of the concert sees Sasha perform new interpretations of music from across his career. Keeping the essence of what made those tracks so distinct while twisting them into new shapes, the new arrangements and live instruments add new harmonic layers and depth to tracks, and put an even greater focus on texture and atmosphere. Demonstrating his progressive approach to his craft, these new interpretations bring his back catalogue in line with the latest evolution of his sound.

Sasha said: "To be offered the chance to perform my music at this iconic venue was something that I could not turn down. I spent quite a long time considering what exactly I could do as a ‘live’ performance as it’s something I have never done before. Luckily there has been a new wave of electronic musicians and composers pushing the boundaries with what can be done in this environment. The live combination of synths, drum machines, live instruments and vocalists we are putting together for this show is allowing me to take what I have worked on in the studio and present it in a new exciting way. It’s been an inspiring process and I am looking forward to sharing it with you. I have djed to all kinds of crowds before from intimate 150 people after hours clubs to 200k+ people at a rave in a field. This is something totally alien and new to me though. It’s an exhilarating, terrifying challenge.  I can’t wait.”
