‘10th Planet EP’ is the first offering in a collaboration between London’s techno wizard Saytek and Native City’s Hannah Holland, released 20th April.
Saytek has steadily grown over the last few years to become one of the scene’s most in-demand and truly live acts, with a prolific output of EPs and live albums on Cubism plus releases on labels like Soma, fabric, KMS, My Favorite Robot, Wiggle, Monique Musique and Liebe*Detail.
Meanwhile Hannah Holland has been forging her craft by fusing a hybrid of styles from house, to techno, to bass since her legendary DJ residencies at Trailer Trash and Batty Bass. After launching the eclectic Batty Bass label in 2006, Native City (a sister-label with Deboa) was introduced, which is home to a more stripped down London / Berlin sound.
After meeting behind the decks, blinking into various strobe lit underground club situations, Saytek and Hannah Holland realized they shared a love for the weird and the techy. So a few sessions experimenting in the studio later and along came these 3 tracks.
‘Malfunction’ is definitely a perfect example of this, whilst ‘Butch Anderson’ and ‘10th Planet’ are an ode to Detroit via Hackney.
