Scottish visionary Arielle Free remixes Lulu’s 1964 hit, ‘Shout’

Arielle Free unveils her highly-anticipated explosive remix of the 1964 Lulu classic ‘Shout’, out on Friday 21st June.

The talented Scottish DJ/producer puts her own timeless spin on the 1964 classic. Respecting the jive swing of the original while resonating with today’s ravers, this tech house rework slots the vintage Isley Brothers cover between energetic punching drums and a driving synth bassline, ramped up by scene-setting epic risers.

Getting to remix the Scottish (and fellow Glaswegian) Lulu is a moment I never thought I’d ever get in my career.” Arielle Free explains. “This song celebrates its 60th anniversary this year so it couldn’t be better timing to bring it back to the dance floor and introduce it to a whole new audience! Honoured to be allowed to remix such an iconic song.”

Arielle Free’s music proudly embodies the dance sound of Scotland. This remix acts as a fitting connection, given Lulu and Arielle’s shared Glaswegian roots.

Since her inception in 2014, Arielle Free’s journey to DJ stardom has seen her become a prominent voice in dance music radio. In 2018, she became the early Breakfast host and daytime face of Radio 1 Dance in 2020, and now hosts Radio 1’s Rave Up with Arielle Free, every Thursday night, showcasing the latest in house music, rave, garage, and more.

Making her debut as a producer in 2022, Arielle went on to make moves with her soulful and stripped-back dancefloor smash ‘Feels So Good’ on Defected Records in 2023, following a release on Eats Everything’s Edible label with her track, ‘You Can’t Stop Me’. She’s since set up her own label, entitled Free Your Mind, which played host to her deliciously percussive track, ‘Technicolour Kenny’, in 2023.

On the DJ front, Arielle has performed at iconic festivals and venues such as Printworks, Creamfields, Parklife, and Glastonbury, ending 2022 by closing the Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party for over ten thousand party-goers. For the past few years she’s notably been a regular resident at David Guetta’s Future Rave show at Hï Ibiza, and supported Calvin Harris at his homecoming Hampden Park Stadium show for another massive 48,000-strong crowd.

Set for a series of Summer shows in Ibiza playing for Elrow, Defected, Swedish House Mafia at Ushuaia, Guetta at Hï sharing the stage with Solardo, Fisher and Claptone, Arielle Free’s ‘Shout’ remix is sure to inject a sense of fun into a sun-drenched dancefloor near you very soon.
