Pellon is a Spanish artist who serves up full length album for the first time on the Parallel label. To date a label that mixes up techno, minimal and ambient, this new LP does exactly that in real style across eight fully formed tracks. The whole thing is warm and inviting and plays out like a movie in your mind.
First out of the blocks is Una Cita Con Emma. A swirling, deep number with male vocals drifting over the top of slick and smooth beats. It really takes you to another world and sets a fine tone for the LP. Parar De Comparar then slips into a skittish and stripped back techno groove with slithering hi hats and spooky whispered vocal. El Canto Del Grillo keeps up that mystical vibe with more spaced out and atmospheric grooves that are delicate, eerie and cerebral.
Proving he is a real master of subtle but hypnotic grooves, tracks like El Cafe Thailandes then suck you deep down into a rolling rubber kick drum and trickling hi hat line. Old Man comes on a little stronger and more direct with lumpy drums and warm, spiralling pads that stretch off far into the distance.
La Naturaleza Del Aire pairs sonar like blips with gentle hand claps and again makes for spine tingling serene and autumnal deep techno that soothes mind, body and soul. El Venir Del Avenir then gets more rickety and lumpy thanks to some loose metal percussion and heavy stabs, and Razones closes things out on a sombre, organic note with sound percussion tumbling down on top of a spacious kick drum. All in all this is excellent stuff.
