SELL-OUT CROWD CELEBRATES BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY AT TENNENT’S VITAL
David Guetta brought Tennent’s Vital 2014 to a spectacular close last night, and celebrated the news that his single Lovers on the Sun had topped the UK singles chart with over 30,000 music fans at Boucher Road Playing Fields. Guetta thrilled the sell-out crowd with an epic headline set as stunning lasers and spectacular pyrotechnics lit up the Belfast sky on Bank Holiday Sunday. The DJ began the night by telling the crowd: “Tonight’s a special night because my new single Lovers on the Sun has gone to number 1. I want to celebrate with you all tonight!” before treating them to a hit-filled set including Shot Me Down, Play Hard and Titanium. He closed the show by praising the crowd, saying: “What an amazing night! I want to thank each and every one of you for coming down to this show!”
Before Guetta took to the decks, Steve Angello spun huge hit after huge hit, bringing a big club vibe to Boucher Road Playing Fields. Massive anthems plus Swedish House Mafia classics raised huge cheers, and Angello told the crowd: “Today’s really special for me as it’s the last show of the summer for me.”
Earlier in the day, DJ Al Gibbs was first up to get the party started, before DJ Rigsy took to the decks. Rigsy had stepped in to replace Robin Schulz – who had been forced to withdraw from the bill due to illness – and raised massive cheers from the crowd when he played Schulz’s remix of Mr Probz’s Waves in tribute to the German DJ. Austrian production duo Klangkarussell continued the party, with their massive breakthrough hit Sonnentanz proving to be a highlight.
On Thursday 21st August, Tennent’s Vital fans enjoyed incredible sets from The Killers, Bastille and Belfast group Go Wolf, before David Guetta, Steve Angello, Klangkarussell, DJ Al Gibbs and DJ Rigsy brought the festival to a close last night (Sunday 24th August).
