SHÆLIN Present Their Highly-Anticipated ‘Ana Hata Extended’ Remix EP

Neo-soul crew SHÆLIN first unveiled their globally adored extended-player “Ana Hata” back in November of last year, bringing with it a host of support and new fans from around the world. Extending the project to audiences across the music-scape, the outfit elected a select few of the industry’s most promising and authentic voices – Hugo Payen, DJ Phantom and Samba De La Muerte – to reimagine their highlight tracks “To Untie A Knot”, “Ain’t No Matter”, and “Body”. Completing the “Ana Hata Extended” EP, budding French producer Ténéré serves us his sumptuous never-before-heard take on the stunning “River Of Gold”. The full “Ana Hata Extended” collection is now available to purchase and stream across all platforms.

SHÆLIN’s “River Of Gold” is a measured and soulful number, portraying the spiritual pull of love and faith; a common lyrical topic within their catalogue of social change-oriented narratives. Accompanied by an iridescent music video that highlighted divine femininity in all its glory, the track presented a synthesis of dreamy soundscapes beneath their fervid vocals. Ténéré’s remix pivots stylistically from its counterpart, revealing a groove-inducing rhythm that nods to influences of funk without straying too far from SHÆLIN’s unique lyricism. Unequivocally cool from start to finish, the French producer has perfectly captured the original’s sultry nature within his edit. Adding a symphony of elements to the relatively stripped-back and vocal-focused offering, Ténéré brings a fresh perspective to its melodious theme; creating an altogether new listening experience that is discernibly his own.

SHÆLIN are a neo-soul crew weaving unique sonic masterpieces from an array of musical references. The group are inspired by the richness of African-American music (RnB, soul, hip hop, jazz, gospel) but also by musical horizons ranging to the traditional sensibilities of Reunion Music and Steve Reich. SHÆLIN represents the mixing of genres and traditions; offering a contemporary and soulful sound which breathes the joy of life and generosity. For the outfits’ six members, their diversity is a richness and their cross-pollination of culture and lifestyle, a celebration of love. The roots of the collective stretch from Mozambique to Martinique, passing through Italy, Cameroon, Reunion Island and Vietnam. Representing different origins, ages and backgrounds, they met in the city of Tours, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Together, they create universal and unifying music. This crossbreeding is highlighted in the music videos produced and directed by SHÆLIN, and in the writing of their compositions, in which we hear English and Reunionese Creole.
