Ronnie Spiteri joins the Do Not Sleep rosters this March with his ‘Shakedown’ EP, accompanied by a remix from Anja Schneider.
Following on from a Pete Tong ‘essential new tune’ for his release on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound and EP’s for Truesoul and ViVa, rising star Ronnie Spiteri continues to take huge strides in his career by joining powerhouse party promoter and imprint Do No Sleep.
Title-track ‘Shakedown’ opens with robust rhythms, stuttering vocal chops and progressive-tinged arps to set the tone ahead of ‘Inside Out’ which strips things back to swinging drums whilst easing in elongated bass drones, melodic chord sequences and airy atmospheric vocal swells to create an emotive breakdown before the weighty groove returns to tail out the track.
The third and final original from Ronnie is up next, entitled ‘Another Life’ and taking things a little deeper via pulsating subs, gritty dub stabs and sporadic clap fills. Anja Schneider then closes the package with her take on ‘Shakedown’, the SoUS label-head’s interpretation adds a more refined feel to things, employing wandering, jazz- tinged melodies as the focal point whilst crunchy claps, phasing shakers and rumbling low-end tones unfold with subtle nuances throughout.
Ronnie Spiteri’s ‘Shakedown’ EP is out on Do Not Sleep 30th March 2018.
