Shiba San Debuts on Insomniac Records With Two Slick Tech House Cuts on ‘Are You Feeling This?’

Seasoned veteran Shiba San makes his long-awaited debut on Insomniac Records with his perfectly balanced tech house two-tracker “Are You Feeling This?”

Operating out of Miami, the Parisian maestro Shiba San has put his stamp on a prolific output tied to his unceasing love for seminal Chicago house music. Staying true to form, he’s dropping two pristine cuts, serving as his debut outing with the Insomniac Records imprint. Conjoining the two musical worlds that shaped his sound, the title cut “Are You Feeling This?” fuses his early career in French hip-hop with his persevering dominance over house. Employing the iconic melodic hook from the underground hip-hop anthem “Mass Appeal” by Gang Starr, the effortlessly smooth house creation is embellished with Shiba San’s minimalist sensibilities. Rolling drums and circular piano chords are underlined by jazzy ostinato keys and elastic basslines, which complements the classic rap samples peppered throughout.

On the B-side, “Stay Focused” sees Shiba San recruiting fellow French producer Millad for collab duties. The pair of groove technicians engage in some proper late-night activities by pulling the affair into deeper, clubbier territory. The rolling DJ tool is hypnotic and buoyant in all the right measures, with a transfixing vocal sample that loops out over dizzying bleeps, tumbling low-end, sharp percussive patterns, and the perfect touch of horn synths keeping the attention locked at full focus.

It’s been a characteristically busy year for Shiba San, with the renowned Miami resident recently embarking on a 21-date tour in support of his own Basement Leak imprint. The four-month North American label showcase placed him in some of the most prestigious clubs around the continent, including stops at Exchange LA and Soundcheck in Washington D.C. He’s coming off an incredible performance at the inaugural EDSea cruise festival and is looking ahead to an extravagant experience as part of the ‘Masquerade’ presented by Claptone going down at the Hollywood Palladium at the end of November.

Once again, Shiba San demonstrates his remarkable versatility via two distinct house heaters filling out the aptly titled “Are You Feeling This?” on Insomniac Records
