Vudu’s latest release comes in the form of a one-two punch. Knockout tracks ‘Shortcut’ and ‘Something Special’ make up this tasty tech-house package, which encapsulates everything that MDE’s imprint stands for: hard-hitting experimental sounds with crisp hi-hats, groove-infested basslines and some of the most addictive hooks around. The man behind the production of the ‘Shortcut’ EP, Max Shvez, continues to demonstrate his natural ability to produce big dancefloor bombs, as he bulks out his ever-growing collection of tracks. With big early support from the likes of Tough Love, Steve Lawler and Jonathan Ulysses, the sky is the limit for the sounds of ‘Shortcut.’
Solid grooves and old-school vibes make up the title track ‘Shortcut.’ Featuring a dark, heavy bassline, there’s certainly no shortage of groove here. Sharp synth stabs and keyboard melodies add the nostalgic factor to the track, as the vocal makes things even more infectious. This one would slot in nicely in house and tech-house sets across the board, not to mention it’s perfect release timing for 2017’s Ibiza season.
Following on from this is ‘Something Special,’ a deeper, more techno driven record. A hands-in-the-air, fist-pumper of a track that is a dead-cert to get the party started. With big build ups and even bigger drops, a monster of a bassline and chunky drums, there is no doubt that this will get the place moving.
Vudu continue to break the mould, as they deliver another big EP for the summer. You’ll also be hearing a lot more of Max Shvez in the future, watch this space…
