Love Deluxe - Silk Mirage EP

Mushroom Record's relatively new electronic imprint "Soothsayer" has already made quite the impact with releases such as Sam Weston's "Never Been In Love" EP and there's certainly no stopping them as their latest cut proves.  

Mysterious Sydney musician, Love Deluxe delivers his debut EP "Silk Mirage" for the label, demonstratating an "old" sound with a "modern" approach, from quiet lo-fi and distorted sounds into a wall of loud, glossy and bubbling synths and drums. 
 
Drawing upon cultural references, particularly for the titles such as “Cool Breeze Over The Mountains" – a reference to Keanu Reeves’ Hawaiian name meaning – Love Deluxe is a visionary leader with his approach. He explains “the title "Silk Mirage" is an interesting combination of words, but references aesthetic inspirations for the track such as the lush, ambient pads of Yoshio Suzuki's "The Mirage" and the smooth, disco grooves in some of the numbers from Boz Scaggs' "Silk Degrees”.
 
The creative team behind the artistic direction for Love Deluxe are "Lost Art” AKA Chris Hopkins and Axel Moline who have led major campaigns for XL Recordings (inc. the last Avalanches record), Apple Music and MTV. The duo commented, “When Soothsayer first shared the Love Deluxe demos with us, what stood out was that it was hard to place a time period on the music. For all we knew, they were created 10 years ago, 20 years ago, or yesterday. I think for that reason they reminded us of some of the classic magazines we love that also seem to defy time – like Photo, Twen, Eros, Nova, Absolu. Their fashion sensibilities also felt a fit to Love Deluxe's general smoothness. Working backwards, we reached out to photographer Hans Feurer, who'd been contributing to many of the aforementioned magazines since the 1960's. It was a real thrill to work with his imagery. We worked with assorted archives including Associated Press and British Movietone to obtain the footage, with much back and forth, but it was well worth the wait”.
