Simina Grigoriu Returns To We Are The Brave With ‘The Ceremonialist’ EP

Simina Grigoriu returns to the release radar once again with her sophomore EP for Alan Fitzpatrick’s esteemed We Are The Brave imprint. Her latest two-tracker, ‘The Ceremonialist’, is another masterclass in high-octane techno and follows her debut ‘Mental Warfare’ EP for the label back in June 2023. As the title references, Grigoriu’s latest studio endeavour is an aural tribute to her profound experiences with Ayahuasca, honouring its impact on her creative output.

Simina opens the EP with the powerful title track; an imposing slice of underground techno that’s conducive to dark, sweaty club nights and euphoric afterhours moments. A deep, resonant kick and bellowing synth hits give the opus its meaty character, whilst delicate chimes add an eerie overtone. The EP’s second and final offering, ‘La Chacruna’, opts for a more percussive spirit that’s founded on crisp snares and fast-moving melodic sequences. Bolstered by a rapturous vocal line and meticulous production values, this bona fide peak-time gem is nothing short of Grigoriu gold.

One of the most dedicated talents on the European circuit, Simina’s output is fast becoming synonymous with the heady sounds of Berlin’s iconic club culture. Pounding kicks, rolling basslines and intricate drum patterns are well-championed sensibilities within her productions, making her a firm favourite for renowned labels such as We Are The Brave, OFF Recordings, ELEVATE and Prospect Records. Leading the resurgence of upfront, uplifting techno through her own authoritative imprint Kuukou Records, the label chief and mother-of-two continues her rich vein of form in 2024, with what looks set to be another year of impeccable productions.
