Based in Toronto, Canadian-Jamaican rapper, singer-songwriter and activist Honey B releases her latest single, ‘Pressure’ on June 17th. The track, written in 2022, came about as a result of overcoming betrayal, disloyalty and self-doubt so crippling that Honey B took a year away from music; this re-introduction sets the tone and trajectory for her musical journey and is the lead single from her forthcoming EP. ‘Pressure’ is an anthem about resilience, self-awareness and having a strong mindset.
‘Inspired by real events, Pressure is about bouncing back from layers of obstacles and adversities. It’s about knowing who you are on a deeper level and not settling for low quality experiences… I wasn’t made to fold under pressure, I was made to apply it” Honey B
Honey B’s musical influences include Nicki Minaj, Kehlani, Amy Winehouse, J. Cole and Eve; she began singing and songwriting at the age of 12 to cope with stress, isolation, bullying, and abuse. She understands the power music has in connecting people and crossing borders as well as the personal cognitive therapeutic benefits to heal, inspire, transform, and empower. This philosophy is reflected in her post-breakup meditative single ‘Typical’.
Her first recorded R&B single ‘Baddie’ was released in 2020 as an introductory statement showcasing her unique vocals and empowering lyrics for women to focus on; completing their goals and having a ‘Baddie Mindset’ while doing so. She has amassed over 600,000 streams on Spotify in over 170 different countries with an all time high of 10,433 monthly listeners and 300,000 views on her Youtube Channel to date, and remains committed to talking about mental health, personal growth and development, using music as a positive and safe outlet for self-expression and transformation.
