Sir Sly – You Haunt Me (My Digital Enemy Remix)

After an already stand-out year My Digital Enemy have amped it up with a pulsing deep house remix of Sir Sly’s ‘You Haunt Me,’ released on Cherrytree/Interscope.

MDE have taken the quirky, melodic debut by the Californian trio and layered a bouncing beat, eerie piano and synthesised strings over a banging bass line at the drop and the result is a stirring house track with contagious energy; mixed to perfection and made for the dancefloor. Sir Sly’s melancholy yet exhilarating lyrics are enhanced by the up-tempo pace giving the indie original an injection of dance-fused frenzy.

‘You Haunt Me’ was Sir Sly’s debut and was recorded, produced, mixed, and engineered by the band. The group keep their lyrics cryptic but allow a pure and powerful emotion to shine through each line so to relay all the emotional pulses without weighing down the song with the full story. In ‘You Haunt Me’ the soaring vocals sweeten up the track’s theme of self-destructive obsession. Sir Sly’s melodic brilliance owes much to each members musical talents, Orange County natives and mates since school Landon Jacobs, Jason Suwito and Hayden Coplen each lend an individual element to the moody fusion of dreamy guitar, dark synth and hip hop grooves.

Tasked with mixing the soulful group’s first track MDE have created a future dance classic.

My Digital Enemy AKA Brighton duo Serg and Kieron have been working together on various projects for more than ten years. Their gritty and dancefloor-filling June release ‘Don’t Give Up’, premiered by Danny Howard, has become the guys highest selling track and their tech house banger ‘Bassline Soundz’ was played by Toddla T on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio One show. Proving that the guys are well and truly smashing it in 2014 the duo were invited to create a guest mix for the one and only Pete Tong.

Way back in the beginning of 2014 MDE’s awaited single ‘Shamen’ was played by Tiesto in his Clublife Afterhours Essential Mix and Pete Tong, Steve Angello and Danny Howard all supporting and playing the track. The guys have had five Beatport House top ten tracks over the 12 months including three top threes, and their single ‘Wrong’ was Beatport House number one for six weeks.

Based on their recent success and the inescapable energy of the remix My Digital Enemy’s reworking of ‘You Haunt Me’ is sure to be a dancefloor anthem.
