When LDRU released his Sizzlar EP last summer, the Australian producer perfectly encapsulated the sunny vibes of the season in a nine track release. With the new year came a facelift to the upbeat EP, where LDRU’s other Aussie mates put their own spin on each track on the EP.
The remix pack opens with Oriental Cravings’s take on “The Calling” where the Australian duo preserves the rising, high-pitched vocals, smashing them into wonky synth beats. While LRDU’s original production of “Take My” has more of a house approach, the enigmatic UZ injects the track with his trap touch, slowing it down and creating a nastier vibe. With a house-centric sound, sunny synths, and a soft, but driving bassline, Yomi Twice takes “Next To You” and places it an entirely new environment, making it the perfect poolside track. SUB-human allows “Pop That” to maintain its cool, head-bopping rhythm, while adding in trap breaks that make it hard to stop moving. Australia-based Akouo takes jazzier approach to LRDU’s “You”, adding deeper bass lines, soft rhythmic snaps, and a light hi-hat that creates a smoother vibe around the track. The EP shows just how versatile LRDU’s original productions are, with each track shedding its skin and allowing the producers to sculpt the track into something all their own.
