Smag Pa Dig Selv drop gabber banger ‘Vik’s Rawcore’

The uncompromising Danish trio Smag På Dig Selv (SPDS) unveil their third single, “Vik’s Rawcore,” from their upcoming album, set for release in March 2026. The track marks a new chapter for the group as they invite vibraphonist Viktoria Søndergaard into their distinctive and evolving sound world.

“Vik’s Rawcore” brings together Nordic jazz lyricism and the hard, industrial pulse of Dutch gabber. The track draws inspiration from band member Oliver Lauridsen’s time in Holland, where he became immersed in the local underground scene. Søndergaard’s vibraphone adds a striking counterpoint to the band’s signature setup of two saxophones and drums, expanding Smag På Dig Selv’s sound with a new sense of rhythm and texture. The result is a contrast-rich composition that continues the band’s ongoing exploration of instrumental intensity and freedom.

Since forming in 2018, Smag På Dig Selv — Oliver Lauridsen (tenor sax), Thorbjørn Øllgaard (baritone and bass sax), and Albert Holberg (drums) — have established themselves as one of Denmark’s most fearless and captivating live acts. Their 2024 debut album SPDS was met with critical praise, followed by a series of landmark performances: a crowd of 11,000 at Roskilde Festival, a sold-out headline show at Store Vega months in advance, and an international touring schedule that in 2025 alone included NYC Winter Jazzfest (US), Athens Jazz Festival (GR), Bearded Theory (UK), SESC São Paulo (BR), Garana Jazz Festival (RO), and numerous other stages worldwide. Their fierce stage presence and genre-defying sound earned them the Danish Music Award for “New Live Act of the Year” in 2024.

With “Vik’s Rawcore”, Smag På Dig Selv continue to challenge their instrumental setup and expand their sound — merging the openness of jazz with the pulse of electronic music and the raw energy of the underground.

Alongside the new single, SPDS have announced their Christiania World Tour – a spectacular hometown series of performances in the heart of Freetown Christiania, where the trio first took shape. After this immersive Copenhagen-based run, the band embarks on their most ambitious European tour to date, bringing their explosive live energy to venues and festivals across the continent. The live dates currently scheduled are as follows, with more to be announced shortly:

15/4 Pustervik, Göteborg

16/4 Blaa, Oslo

17/4 Debaser, Stockholm

18/4 Plan B, Malmø

20/5 Hug and Pint, Glasgow

21/5 Voodoo Daddy’s, Norwich

22/5 Shindig, Charlton Park

23/5 Bearded Theory Festival, Catton Park.
