Smalltown DJs Drop New Single ‘Only You’ via Dirtybird

Canadian duo Smalltown DJs are back with a new single ‘Only You’ out now as part of the Dirtybird’s 20th anniversary.

‘Only You’ strikes a different tone, dipping into emotive lyricism while still harnessing the eccentric club style synonymous with Dirtybird. The track’s endearing vocal sample instantly enraptures listeners with “In a sea of faces, I see only you”, injecting a communal spirit with its optimistic message. Deeply engaging, ‘Only You’ builds over nearly four minutes with crisp percussion and UK garage-inspired basslines that perfectly complement the echoing topline. An undeniable late-night crusher, ‘Only You’ will soundtrack Dirtybird’s 20th Anniversary Tour all summer long.

One of Canada’s most promising electronic talents, Smalltown DJs is the Canadian duo of Pete Emes and Michael Grimes. The Smalltown sound combines the spirit of Canada’s outdoor electronic music festivals such as Shambhala and Bass Coast, with the atmosphere they’ve cultivated at the legendary Hifi Club in Calgary (which they owned and operated). Smalltown DJs have released on esteemed labels such as Fool’s Gold, Sweat It Out, Night Bass, and Box of Cats, and in 2023, made their Dirtybird debut with ‘Energy‘ alongside Joanna Magik. After earning a Juno Award nomination for ‘Underground Dance Single of the Year’, Smalltown DJs returned to the label with an official ‘Acid Funk‘ remix and performed at their ‘Back To BAYsics’ takeover in San Francisco. Following ‘Only You’, Smalltown DJs will join the flock for Dirtybird Campout x Northern Nights Music Festival.
