The always on point Digital Traffik label is back with another superb EP, this time from a pair of esteemed Sicilian producers in the form of Allen & Fillix, who last appeared on this label a year ago. Once again here they come correct with a pair of cuts that offer two very different vibes.
Up first is Monkey Kiss, which is six minutes of corrugated dance funk. The drums are rugged and loose, the vocal stabs add heat and some classic old school claps bring the energy. It’s one to work the floor into a lather and then comes Smoke Drums. This one is much harder hitting, with vast rubber kicks bringing the retro house sounds to the fore. Crisp, sharp edged percussion slices up and down and though the track is largely derivative, it still does the key things right and really gets you wanting to bust out some shapes. As such, this is a fine EP from a fine label and fine pair of producers.
