Solar Weekend Festival NL announce first acts…

Solar Weekend Festival, from the stages to art installations to attractions, is designed from the bottom up by creatives from around the world. Now, as the headliners for the 12th edition are launched, more than 5000 creatives have been involved in the on going project.

Taking place in the beautiful Roermond, Eindhoven from August 5th – 7th, creative hub and exciting music festival Solar Weekend has plenty of international stars lined-up for its 12th edition. These include Len Faki, DJ Rush, Miss Kittin, Joris Voorn, Boris Brejcha, Riton, Fedde le Grand, De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Broederliefde & SBMG, Fresku and dozens of other names from various genres all playing to a crowd of 30,000 people, 15,000 of whom camp for the duration.

Built on creativity – What separates this festival from the rest, though, is its dedication to boutique design, one-off stages and special art concepts. The whole festival, from the stages to the installations to the attractions and performing art, is all designed by young creative teams and collectives with more than 1,000 of them involved in all (in fact last year the festival reached the milestone of having worked with more than 5,000 creative folks in all over the last 12 years). In the run up to the event, anyone can submit their ideas, and the best and most imaginative are then commissioned and funded by Solar. The creatives involved then get to see their dream made a reality and as well as this making for extra special experiences for the festival goers, it also adds a real community spirit and vibe and gives the brightest creatives a platform to showcase their ideas.

As for the music, The Main Stage combines all the genres that Solar Weekend is known for. One of the most iconic names in the techno scene, DJ Rush, will perform at the festival in Roermond. He’s been around for almost 25 years and is known for his intense sets and unique interaction with his audience. Another DJ that is world-renowned is Len Faki, one of the residents at Berlin’s legendary nightclub Berghain. Joris Voorn, Boris Brejcha, Sam Paganini, Roman Poncet and Egbert (live) will also join in with the fun at the Techno Tent.

The British agency Decked Out! and RAUW – a concept by house pioneer Joost van Bellen – will host another stage this year. On this stage you can find the best that House and Elektro has to offer. One of these big names is Miss Kittin: She’ll play back to back with Djedjotronic. Other acts on this stage are Riton, Tommie Sunshine, Boston Bun and Para One.

The main man at the House of House this year is Fedde le Grand. The Dutchman had several sold-out shows at Carré with his show GRAND. Recently he added Ziggo Dome to this list. It’s been ten years since Fedde le Grand came into the public eye with his massive hit ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’. Chocolate Puma, La Fuente, Kris Kross Amsterdam, Tony Junior, Roog, Benny Rodgrigues and Moksi will also perform at the House of House.

Fans of Hip Hop won’t be disappointed either. De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Broederliefde & SBMG, Fresku and Ronnie Flex & Mr. Polska will be on the Main stage, but don’t forget about the Container Compound! Hosts Bespoke & Missin’ Link will bring the best that the Dutch world of Hip Hop has to offer with Waxfiend, SFB, Bokoesam, Bollebof, Hef, FS Green, Sevn Alias and more.

Don’t forget about Kraantje Pappie at the camping on Friday. He’ll perform at Cirque du Rave – the camping tent hosted by party collective Rave van Fortuin – with other names being Dirtcaps, Naffz, Giocatori and Flamboyant ft. De Gelogeerde Aap. On the beach at the sunny Solar camping 2Dirty, Dominico, Dsquared and Dave Lambert will perform. This stage will be hosted by At The Villa, a collective originating from the south of the country.

The last stage will be brought to life by FeestDJRuud and the Amsterdam collective VAgE gASTEN. Get ready to party together with their friends DJ Gomes, Lucky Done Gone, David Ghetto and Fabrizio. How about that!?
