Kez YM - Solidity EP

Japanese producer Kez YM returns to City Fly with four deep house numbers in his ‘Solidity’ EP out this September.

Respected for dropping releases on a select series of underground house imprints, such as Yore Records, Faces Records and Gerd’s 4Lux, Kez YM first appeared on City Fly back in 2013 with his ‘Late Night Blue Sound’ EP, which was subsequently the Leicester label’s most popular release to date. Real name Kazuki Yamaguchi, the Berlin-based artist’s productions contain elements of funk, organic and Detroit house, and have received the nod from the likes of Moodymann, Larry Heard, Osunlade, Jimpster and Cassy.

Dripping with Kez’s trademark deepness, the release initiates with the grooving ‘Bump Into The Sky’, before ‘Eagle Eye’ ups the energy with crisp 909 drums and trippy synth work. On the flip ‘My Joy’ is underpinned by deep, jazzy melodies as a twisted vocal sample operates on top, until ‘Spiral Traffic’ concludes it all by combining looping vocal coos with tumbling piano chords.
