Lovestarrs - Somebody Like You
Bubbly electro-pop duo Lovestarrs are proud to present their new single, the charming and synthy ‘Somebody Like You’, via DEFDISCO.
Following on from their successful kickstart campaign – which saw the release of the wonderfully poppy ‘Get Your Sexy On/Drop Dead Gorgeous’ single, Brother and Sister Hamish and Sarah McIntosh have prepared the equally enchanting new single ‘Somebody Like You’, as they make the charge for their forthcoming album release. Laced with smooth synth lines, bouncy bass guitar and crooning vocals, the song has a distinct and playful pop vibe inspired by the duo’s love for artists like The Human League and Prince, but with a unique bubblegum flavor.
You may recognise the bright haired siblings from their time as the NME and Clash-approved The Good Natured. After being dropped from Parlophone/EMI, Hamish and Sarah found themselves a new home with DEFDISCO (Bella Loka, Public Enemy, Kaela Sinclair (M83)), and they haven’t looked back since. Back and better than ever, the dynamic dup are readying the release of their new album ‘Planet Lovestarr’, set to drop in August.
Although saccharine sweet and upbeat, the new single holds a very emotional and personal place in lead singer Sarah’s heart. As she puts it herself, ‘Somebody Like You’ is about “about falling for your best friend, who is unfortunately taken. On one hand, you are happy that your friend has found love, but on the other, you are bitterly sad it’s not with you. It’s about wanting to find somebody who has all of their qualities”.
Accompanied by a vibrant and colourful video, ‘Somebody Like You’ follows the siblings dancing around to a number of pastel backdrops. Complete with optical illusions and bags of confetti, the video captures the band’s softer and more tongue-in-cheek side, coinciding perfectly with the playful new song.
Letting nothing stand in their way this time round, charismatic electro-pop twosome Lovestarrs’s new track ‘Somebody Like You’ is lively, energetic, and a whole lot of fun. Already premiered at Indie Shuffle, the track has started to turn heads and get people talking. The meteoric resurrection of Lovestarrs continues.
