Sydney’s Karlin Courtney is an upcoming producer who’s making tunes under the name Sommeil, and today he’s ready to share his impressive debut single, ‘Touch.’
Right after making a collection of slow R&B tunes, Karlin Courtney decided he wanted something with a bit more groove, something with a little more punch. He began listening to a variety of old and new favourites including Earth Wind and Fire, Toro Y Moi, Kindness and Flight Facilities, out of which he found the inspiration and direction for the sounds and style he wanted to achieve with Sommeil.
‘Touch’ is an infectious synth-pop jam that just makes you want to get up and move. Sommeil’s smooth R&B flavoured vocal croons weave their way through layers of chopped and reversed violin samples, retro synths and pulsing arrangements of 90’s inspired beats.
