Sydney’s Karlin Courtney is an upcoming producer who’s making tunes under the name Sommeil, and today he’s ready to share his impressive debut single, ‘Touch.’
Right after making a collection of slow R&B tunes, Karlin Courtney decided he wanted something with a bit more groove, something with a little more punch. He began listening to a variety of old and new favourites including Earth Wind and Fire, Toro Y Moi, Kindness and Flight Facilities, out of which he found the inspiration and direction for the sounds and style he wanted to achieve with Sommeil.
‘Touch’ is an infectious synth-pop jam that just makes you want to get up and move. Sommeil’s smooth R&B flavoured vocal croons weave their way through layers of chopped and reversed violin samples, retro synths and pulsing arrangements of 90’s inspired beats.
“Touch is about the sexual mind games we learn to play when we are young, and the feelings that are the circumstance of that, knowing you are being played by a girl/boy and learning how to play back” – Sommeil
You can get a free download of ‘Touch’ via Sommeil’s Soundcloud, but be sure to follow him on his socials to be kept up to date on all things Sommeil.
