Sónar Reykjavik 2017 – Giggs, Blawan B2B Exos, Nadia Rose, Alvia Islandia and more confirmed

In just four years, Sónar Reykjavík has cemented a unique reputation in the global festival calendar. It’s an event which celebrates its striking contrasts. The line-up combines some of the most celebrated names from the world of electronica alongside cutting-edge underground artists who are shaping the genre’s future, while its home – the Harpa Concert House – offers superior acoustics, an intimate capacity of 3500, and a warmth that counters Iceland’s winter chill.

Joining previously announced artists Fatboy Slim, Moderat, De La Soul, Sleigh Bells, Tommy Genesis, Vatican Shadow, Marie Davidson, Helena Hauff and more in February will be Peckham-born grime luminary Giggs and one of the rising stars of the new wave of British female MCs, Nadia Rose.

Icelandic techno veteran Frímann is also confirmed for 2017 alongside Blawan, who will be teaming up with Icelandic techno export and трип Records regular, Exos, for an exclusive two hour B2B set in the underground car park at Harpa.

The nascent Icelandic rap scene has been gaining critical acclaim and column inches over the past year, with the likes of FACT reporting on a movement that's 'on the brink of exploding'. Representing the Icelandic hip hop contingent at this year's festival will be rising talent GKR, fashion-forward rapper Sturla Atlas and homegrown trap queen Alvia Islandia.

Sónar Reykjavík will take place across four stages at one of Europe's most unique concert venues, Harpa, against the magical backdrop of the Icelandic winter in the heart of Reykjavik.

A full 3-day festival ticket is 19,990kr (approximately £143). Limited edition VIP passes are 29,990kr and include access to the exclusive VIP-only bar, early access and selected complimentary drinks at the VIP bar, fast entry to shows and more. Single day tickets for Thursday, Friday and Saturday are also available at 9,990kr, 13,990kr and 15,990kr respectively.

Icelandair are providing special travel packages for fans to travel to the event from the UK. Packages start from £249 for flights and a festival ticket, with hotel accomodation available as an optional extra. Flights leave from London (Gatwick and Heathrow), Aberdeen, Glasgow and Manchester.
