Late October will see Tact Recordings welcome Manchester’s Ruthit to the label to deliver one solo and two collaborative cuts alongside label boss Jordan Bruce under his Yard One guise.
Having released across the likes of Silver Network, Murmur and Fresh Meat, Carl Handley aka Ruthit has steadily been crafting an intricate sound that fuses elements of grooving deep house and atmospheric dub techno since his production debut in 2009. Alongside label boss Jordan Bruce aka Yard One, the pair combine to deliver an EP packed full of intricate rhythms and thoughtful textures.
Opening cut ‘Sonder’ reveals a deep journey that rolls along with emotion, combining rich pads, woozy synth flourishes and delicate instrumentation, before Ruthit’s solo effort ‘Trickle’ takes up a darker and ever evolving aesthetic, with murky swells, hypnotic echoes and low slung, dubbed out elements throughout.
Rounding out the EP, Ruthit & Yard One’s ‘Abstract Tool’ reveals a production woven together by trippy off kilter sound bites, tightly programmed rhythms and subtle nuances; definitely one for the after hours.
Ruthit & Yard One ‘Sonder’ EP drops on Tact Recordings on 4th November 2016.
