Born and raised in Minneapolis, Christine Sako released her single, ‘Warmth’ on December 8, via her independent label. Christine has previously toured with fellow Minnesotans, emo-indie rockers Now, Now, as an opening act for Paramore’s ‘Brand New Eyes’ Europe tour. Now, after venturing out on the strengths of her own creative prowess, Christine Sako has crystallized into an iconoclastic brand of progressively passionate pop. Her first album, The Math Project – a hybrid acoustic and synth-based pop offering – was inspired by the chilled-out Californian atmosphere. Mixed by pop-industry legend Sean P. Jones (Timbaland, Ariana Grande), and mastered by Kristian Montano, Sako has effortlessly paired the soaring vocals on ‘Warmth’ with smoothly refined production.
From an early age, Christine despised the piano lessons her mom had arranged for her but at 14 she was moved to making her own music when she heard Avril Lavigne’s 2002 hit single “Complicated”. Initially afraid of criticism, Sako began recording songs at home and then sending them to her friends, claiming she had “just found this tune online”. When she received positive feedback, she knew she was going to run with it. In 2012 she relocated herself, her guitar, and 25-key MIDI controller to sunny San Diego in pursuit of a whole new musical world.
These days, Sako is manifesting her artistic angle with her single, ‘Warmth’. From guitar-driven indie-pop balladry to upbeat, bass-laden beats, her distinctive vocal range and melodies are on a mission to take listeners through an emotionally charged journey. Injecting finely-tuned hooks with an electrifying undercurrent and an edgy drumbeat, this track speaks to both her analog and digital sensibilities. Christine Sako’s music is reminiscent of Edie Brickell, MUNA, and Taylor Swift
