Sonique is a deep poetic lyricist: Her music evokes a spectrum of feelings – from the euphoria of happiness to the melancholy of sadness and the fiery passion of anger. Her new single ‘Marinade’ in collaboration with RADA Unearthed is a captivating and inspiring track that centres around how one reacts to personal challenges that life throws at us. It’s about how you overcome problems instead of letting them define you. Finding a positive outcome when there seems to be none and growing from it.

“Marinade is about realising that our darkness is part of the journey that shapes us to be stronger, wiser and powerful beings. One should stay confident, keep believing and discover your purpose” – SONIQUE
‘Marinade’ is Sonique’s first big release following her single ‘Why Are We Still Here’ which is part of her first album releasing later this year. Sonique’s love and passion for music started at the tender age of eight, when she first picked up a guitar. From school concerts to years at the East Rand Youth Choir, international competitions, and open mic nights, she has honed her skills before embarking on her journey as a solo artist. Sonique is not just a performer; she’s a passionate creator who finds joy in the process of crafting original music.
“Music gives me the creative freedom to express feelings I can’t talk about and share stories that people can relate to“
‘Marinade’ is featured on RADA Unearthed Volume Three, a compilation album showcasing South African artists sharing messages of inspiration through their music. Sonique has been working with RADA for over a year on the music side and has done volunteer work for the non-profit for approximately four years.
Sonique says, “RADA is a very dynamic organisation, reaching out and assisting many people of all ages from diverse backgrounds, sharing messages of positive change, inclusion and togetherness.” Sonique is dedicated to continuing her growth as an artist, aiming to make music her full-time career. “I want each of my songs to connect with people who relate to my lyrics on a deep and emotional level,” she says. Her blend of alternative electro pop infused with an edgy twist is undeniably soulfully authentic and inspirational. Her music is not just heard; it is felt. Her compositions are captivating and have an infectious energy that sparks movement and ignites the spirit.
