The success of his debut EP ‘Your Love’ included Jaguar’s Radio 1 Dancefloor Moment ‘Keep the Water Still’ – now fresh talent Sonnee brings new joy to dancefloors with single ‘Dancing Ain’t Enough’, featuring POLIÇA frontwoman Channy Leaneagh on vocals.
‘Dancing Ain’t Enough’ is a gorgeous confection of shimmering synth strata with a softly insistent beat showcasing Channy’s sweet voice, given the Sonnee treatment to sound subtly pitch-shifted to give a mix of acoustic clarity with a nod to the 90s.
‘My favourite techy part is how the ethereal layers & vocal chops move around and repitch, it makes the track feel alive. I did this with delays, changing the time & intensities on the OP-1. I started with that synth line with mad plugin processing on it, Channy sent back her vocals and we knew it was right’.
POLIÇA is an American electro-pop band from Minneapolis, formed in 2011. Leaneagh has also featured on electronic tracks like Sasha’s monster hit ‘Out Of Time’ (inc. Patrice Baumel remix). ‘It’s magically surreal to work with her,’ says Sonnee. ‘I’ve been a massive POLIÇA fan since I was a kid watching their performance on Jools Holland, mesmerised.’
Says the Manchester-born, London-based producer aka Charlie Mannion, ‘All I wanted was to make the most dancey upbeat Sonnee thing yet!’ Mission accomplished.
