Techno music, and it’s classic production styles are simply timeless, and Soulrack demonstrates this with his new EP “Universe” out March 31st on refused. The EP is masterfully produced using various analog synths mixed with a forward-thinking, futuristic sound. Growing up in Spain, Soulrack was exposed to only the rawest and most authentic techno around. This influence on his music, in addition to his own moody, eerie and organic sound is the foundation of Soulrack’s success.
Universe, this techno powered EP offers up 4 perplexing tracks with an energetic force. “Enigma” starts the EP off on more of a mellow groove with dark, eerie qualities giving the track a story. Sizzling hi-hats and a subtle, yet strong bassline gives the track movement. “Alarm” picks up the pace with its cryptic synths and pulsing bassline. This track is a techno stormer with a sense of urgency and vengeance. “Big Bang” moves into a strongly atmospheric state with a droning voice echoing throughout. Lastly, “Rosetta” is a warm and dark track, with a deep and permeating beat. The synths and reverberating percussions give the track a industrial techno sound.
