Soundon Festival launches showcasing 30 Years of Dance Music…

Soundon Festival is a new two day music extravanganza, celebrating 30 years of dance music culture, from the earliest acid house through to the latest urban sounds. Soundon Festival takes place on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May at Essex Sports Village, a 48 acre greenfield site in Purfleet. Featuring 6 individual stages, curated by some of the most exciting promoters of the last three decades, Soundon Festival delivers a unique mix of legendary names alongside fresh new talent.

With over 100 DJs and artists from around the world, the massive lineup includes: US superstar Tyga, Boy George (DJ Set), Krept & Konan, Fuse ODG, WSTRN, David Zowie, Huxley, Pleasurekraft, Anja Schneider, Miguel Campbell, Leftwing & Kody, Alexis Raphael, No Artificial Colours, Toyboy & Robin, Robert Dietz, Tim Westwood, David Morales, Marshall Jefferson, Slipmatt, Fabio & Grooverider, Jazzy Jeff, Trevor Nelson, X-Press 2, Justin Robertson, Artful Dodger, Majestic, Max Chapman, Brockie & MC Det, Micky Finn, Hector Couto, and many more. The Soundon team is a blend of young and old, with some running legendary acid house parties from 1987 onwards. They became influential in the emerging garage scene, running a label that produced acts like Craig David, Artful Dodger, Miss Dynamite and more, while also running a Drum ‘n’ Bass label that delivered the seminal Jungle Massive album. Mixed with the younger members of the team who have their fingers firmly on the latest music pulse, the Soundon organisers have lived and breathed dance music for three decades. The diverse Soundon lineup reflects this, and the evolution of music, from its Balearic roots, through to the emergence of numerous genres including, acid house, US house, garage, drum ‘n’ bass, techno, tech house, deep house, bass and its contemporary cross over with grime and hip-hop.
 
The main Soundon Stage on Saturday, presents Boy George (DJ set), currently enjoying huge profile as a judge on The Voice, and a proven talent, both as a singer and behind the decks. Krept & Konan, will perform, the deserved winners of best hip-hop act at the Mobos and the duo behind the #2 hit album of last year, ‘The Long Way Home’. Grime star, Chip will also show off his live skills, proving why he has a string of crossover smash hits to his name. Rising stars of tuneful hip-hop WSTRN also hit the stage after a massive breakthrough year in 2015. Quality house grooves come from Miguel Campbell, David Zowie, Alexis Raphael and more.
 
On Sunday the main Soundon Stage will delight fans with US superstar rapper, Tyga flying in especially for Soundon. Tyga is one of the most exciting names in global hip hop, collaborating on hits with the likes of Chris Brown, Major Lazer, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Drake and more. Expect a spectacular show. Fuse ODG steps up to perform the unique style of Afrobeats which saw him crash the UK top 10 with ‘Antenna’ and recently feature on Major Lazer’s massive ‘Light It Up’. Hip-hop don, Tim Westwood will takeover the main stage and is guaranteed to get the crowds jumping. House and garage heads are well catered for by Tom Zanetti & KO Kane, Majestic (KISS FM), Vato Gonzalez and many more.

The rest of Saturday’s entertainment is provided by stages from top promoters Sunkissed, Garage Nation, Jenkins Lane vs Pasha’s House, The Mayfair Sessions and AC Presents The Trip.

Sunkissed will be lining up with some of the UK’s undisputed house music legends, including X-Press 2, Heller & Farley and Justin Robertson. The highly influential Garage Nation mix up the cream of classic UK garage, featuring Artful Dodger, DJ Luck & MC Neat, Pied Piper, Norris ‘Da Boss’ Windross and a host of others. Jenkins Lane vs Pasha’s House, two seminal names from UK rave history, take us back to ’88-‘89 with massive anthems from all the big names, including Slipmatt, Rat Pack, Fabio & Grooverider, Jumpin Jack Frost and a huge lineup of talent. Premier partying comes from The Mayfair Sessions as they bring a Marbella touch to Soundon, featuring house, garage, hip-hop and R’n’B, from Colin Francis, DJ Russke, Jordan Valleys (MTV’s The Valleys) and more. At the cutting edge of house and techno, AC Presents The Trip deliver Robert Dietz, Hector Couto, Yaya and an array of DJ expertise.
 
The heavyweight Saturday lineup sums up the Soundon ethos; choose your stage to taste a slice of the best electronic music from back in the day, right through to the most innovative sounds of right now.
 
The rest of Sunday’s selection is a field day for any dance music fan. Stages are curated by Funkadelia, Soundon Ibiza vs Feast, Dazéd, Def:Inition vs Jungle Massive and Soul Heaven.

Funkadelia kick back with classic disco, soul & R ‘n’ B, from some huge names, not least Jazzy Jeff, Trevor Nelson and DJ Maseo (De La Soul). Transporting you to the white isle, Soundon Ibiza vs Feast showcase the latest house and techno from international artists, No Artificial Colours, Max Chapman, Negru, Sossa and more exciting names. Tech house specialists, Dazéd deliver a stunning lineup, strong enough to satisfy the most demanding house music connoisseur, with Huxley, Anja Schneider, Pleasurekraft, Leftwing & Kody and a big list of avant-garde artists. The Drum ‘n’ Bass massive are well represented by Def:Inition vs Jungle Massive. All the biggest names are here, including Brockie & MC Det, DJ Sly & MC Trigga, Micky Finn, Nicky Blackmarket plus an unrivalled mix of legendary MCs and DJs. And needing no introduction, respected US house specialists, Soul Heaven deliver some of the biggest legends in house music, Louie Vega (Masters At Work), David Morales, Marshall Jefferson and Balearic pioneer, Alfredo among other great names.
