The track will feature in the duo’s upcoming EP out in April
Glastonbury-born brothers Speakman continue to hone their exciting new sound on ‘Lose Our Way’, the second single from their forthcoming EP.
Out on 15th March, ‘Lose Our Way’ sees the duo indulging in a pop crossover, crafting a laidback rolling groove and layering in ethereal distorted vocal samples and soaring synth melodies to haunting effect.
The track brings the classic UK dance sound of the Free Party movement, a big influence on the duo’s Somerset upbringing, to a modern audience. In signature Speakman style, it’s an epic cinematic journey through a world of drum textures, built around syncopated beats and shuffling rhythms.
‘Lose Our Way’ will appear on the duo’s upcoming EP out in April, alongside last year’s acclaimed single ‘IG.LU’, which received DJ support from the likes of John Digweed, Joris Voorn, Anthony Pappa, Ruben Mandolini, Marsh, Steve Parry, Luke Garcia, Joseph Capriati, Marcus James (Renaissance) & Harry Diamond among many others.
It’s been a strong return for the duo after a hiatus since pre-Covid times, when they first made their name with a series of singles and appearances at a number of UK festivals including Glastonbury. The electronic music duo have been very selective with what they release, with only a select handful of singles and remixes getting officially released since first emerging five years ago.
Speakman’s music has already amassed millions of listeners and strong streaming and radio success for a new artist, as well as critical acclaim and support from the likes of Lauren Laverne, Clash, Dave Roundtree, Huw Stephens and Jamz Supernova, and ‘Babamimoun’ received coveted BBC Radio 1 plays by Danny Howard and Pete Tong.
The duo have also recently turned in a collaboration with New Zealand shoegazers French For Rabbits which was Beatpot Top #10 in Electronica and a remix for John Digweed’s legendary Bedrock Records label which also hit Top #5 in Melodic House Releases.
The brothers grew up in a musical family, raised on psychedelic rock and the dance music of their Somerset origins. The duo’s musical path took off after moving to London, when they started making music for Secret Cinema and eventually launching the Speakman project, before stepping away for a hiatus.
Now back and better than ever with a mature, cinematic new sound, ‘Lose Our Way’ sees Speakman continue their climb to the higher echelons of electronic music – and with a full EP coming soon, there’s no stopping this duo.
