PETE LASKIS - SPICEBOMB

refused. is infiltrating the Australian techno scene and swooping up fresh talent from the land down under! Pete Laskis, a producer from Melbourne, Australia makes his refused. debut releasing a tempestuous 3-piece EP titled “SpiceBomb.”

Pete’s journey began at the age of sixteen when he was exposed to the art of collecting and spinning vinyl. What started out as an interest in collecting and playing vinyls, soon turned into a hobby of mixing music and DJing with friends. By the time he was 19, Pete Laskis was starting to get gigs in clubs and local parties around Australia, and eventually he held a weekly residency in some of Melbourne’s biggest underground nightclubs.

Since then, Pete Laskis has played festivals alongside some of the top names in underground house and techno. He continues to grow as a producer, and his sound has steadily evolved towards a raw, dark, and industrial techno sound.

On his EP “Spicebomb” Pete Laskis goes deep and grasps a special resonance in his sound. Featuring three tracks Spicebomb, Joker and Flowerbomb, each encompassing a dark majestic sound unique to Pete Laskis.

Spicebomb starts in with a low rumbling tone, carried through by a deep and full bassline. Industrial hollow sounds move about the track as a muffled growl gives Spicebomb life. Joker begins with a strong kick drum as a manipulated low voice reels you in.  Sounds of uncanny wind chimes float around the track, and Joker builds up into a techno stormer. Lastly, Flowerbomb ends the EP off with a raw and corky techno treat. A droid-influenced sound with experimental qualities sets this one apart from the rest. Flowerbomb breaks into a strong ending, and has big-room techno qualities perfect for a dark foggy dance floor.
