Spinnin' Records has won several prizes at this year's International Dance Music Awards in Miami. The Dutch label was declared Best Global Music Label for the third consecutive time, while Spinnin's CEO Eelko van Kooten received an IDMA for Best Music Label Executive. Dutch DJ duo, and Spinnin' signed artists Mr. Belt & Wezol won an IDMA for Best Break Through Artist.
Globally perceived as one of the highlights of the annual Winter Music Conference (WMC) in Miami, the IDMA ceremony is also the longest running awards event completely focused on electronic dance music. As the 31th edition of the IDMA's took place last night with a special show at the Shelborne Wyndham Grandon Miami Beach, Spinnin' Records won several awards.
Just as the last two years, Spinnin' Records saw itself win an IDMA for Best Global Label, defeating other nominated imprints like Defected, Revealed and Armada. And as the dance music industry got awarded with prizes in various categories, it was again Spinnin' Records CEO Eelko van Kooten who won an IDMA for Best Music Label Executive.
After young Spinnin' talent Oliver Heldens won an IDMA last year for Best Breakthrough Artist, this year his fellow Dutchmen and labelmates Mr. Belt & Wezol (who scored a worldwide club hit in 2015 with a unique version of Jefferson Airplane's 'Somebody To Love') received the same award. Besides this, the Spinnin' Records release 'De Puta Madre' by Kryder & Tom Staar won an IDMA for Best Latin Dance Track.
Last week, the record company already turned many heads during the Miami Music Week, as it presented the five-day event Spinnin' Hotel. Located at the Nautilus Hotel at Miami Beach, it featured a pool party everyday from Wednesday to Sunday, receiving headlining artists like Tiësto, Oliver Heldens, Bob Sinclar, R3hab, Sam Feldt and many others on stage.
