‘An old fellow once said to me “You don’t need to see the whole staircase to make the first step”. ‘
The opening of Reebok’s newest promo video for Classics tells the story of a man who has moved away from home to start a new life. The first step appears to be pretty daunting and it’s not certain whether this will be a good move. Reebok’s provocative new ad speaks to the fear of change in all of us, and answers the doubts we have about making it in a new place.
Reebok seem to have the knack for developing campaigns that provoke, and this, their newest ad is no different. The development of confidence, the flash of optimism; all these emotions and more are encompassed in this gritty ad that doesn’t just appeal to those who are sporty – it seems to touch a nerve with many of us.
“If you can’t beat them, join them”
The small clip allows us to feel that there is a way of turning negatives into positives. If you can’t beat them, avoid the negative and don’t give up, make your way to the top and succeed on your path. It’s always good to follow an individual who is fighting for success rather than listening to a negative person who doesn’t give you the motivation in life and dismisses your goals. He knows what he wants to do in life, but to get to the top of the ladder he knows to work hard, stay positive and focus on the top step rather than wondering how high up he will get.
The journey viewers go through is one of discovery that, perhaps the journey is more important than the destination. Words of wisdom “Get a plan and stick to it” help us all to see the bigger picture. If you want it, and can work for it, dreams can be achieved successfully, wherever you are. Creating your own path to walk down is possible – if you have the right stuff. Be inspired.
