Star producer Parx is back on hisfavourite, Perfect Havoc with his first single of 2023, ON/OFF. A feelgood, crossover piano-house tune, it features the in-demand Scandi vocalist Lilly Ahlberg and touches on the all too familiar story of a relationship being on or off. From Parx’s ‘Self Certified by Mistajam’ single on BBC Radio 1 Dance, Feel Right Now (feat. Nono) [Parlophone/FFRR], which has achieved 30m+ streams, to the Love Island UK synced Oh My released via Perfect Havoc, everything Parx touches turns to gold.
2017 was the year Parx aka Alex Cramp burst on to the scene with the release of Waiting on You on The Magician’s Potion imprint, debuted by Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1. The follow up, Sunrise, was a collaboration with Kattison and has since reached over 4.1 million streams on Spotify alone.
Over the next few years, Parx went on to release a slew of heavily supported singles. These included Fantasy on TMTR, featuring the vocal talents of close friend and co-conspirator Adam Engle from Blonde. Then Bang, a collaboration with TCTS on Ministry of Sound which gained radio support from Danny Howard and Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1.
Parx joined the Perfect Havoc family in 2019 with his cover of the well-known CeCe Peniston classic Finally. This was also a hit, generating over 2 million streams on Spotify and saw support from Charlie Hedges on BBC Radio 1 Dance Anthems along with daytime playlist support on KISS FM and KISS Dance. Then to original material, the aforementioned emotive single Oh My showcased a more sensitive side to his sound, showing just how versatile this young artist is.
As a remixer, Parx is also in demand. His discography includes flips for Alan Walker, Mason and Tobtok & Oliver Nelson amongst others, as he steadily builds up to be one of the go-to remixers of the UK House Scene.
This latest release ON/OFF will captivate the listener from start to finish. Lilly’s unique vocals, which have been enlisted by the likes of Sonny Fodera, Just Kiddin and Vize, are filled with so much emotion. Set to the rising drops of Parx’s synth work, littered with delicate production motifs throughout, make for an accomplished hit in the making.
Those following the career of English/Swedish multi-instrumentalist, Lilly Ahlberg will spot her influence in ON/OFF of minimalist Scandi cool and indie-pop. Her first EP in 2020 ‘Call Me’ took the dance music world by storm, , subsequent singles have seen the rising talent amass over 500k monthly listeners on Spotify, and there’s much more to be unveiled from her locker in 2023.
ON/OFF is another solid release for Perfect Havoc. Shortlisted for Best Independent Record Label at the 2022 Music Week Awards, Perfect Havoc’s niche of commercial dance with a smattering of the more club-focused sounds has given rise to six UK Top 20 singles including ‘Fake Friends’ by PS1 feat. Alex Hosking, and the No.1 single ‘Head & Heart’ by Joel Corry & MNEK.
Now having generated over 5 billion streams, the London-based Perfect Havoc is one of the most consistently successful indies in recent years. Keep an ear out for more releases in 2023 with cuts from Alfie Cridland, Tobtok, Kydus, James Hurr, Simon Field and much more lined up.
