Steve Aoki’s conceptual video series continues with the release of ‘Neon Future ft. Empire Of The Sun’.
The title track from two-part album ‘Neon Future’ features Luke Steele, frontman of award winning Australian duo Empire Of The Sun, whose debut track ‘Walking On A Dream’ brought the pair international acclaim and launched them into the spotlight in 2008.
The video itself sees Luke Steele singing to a decadent, high-end dining hall full of statuesque bystanders until Steve Aoki crashes the party, peasantry and laborers in tow, bringing everyone to life. The scene then evolves into a futuristic masquerade meets full blown rave in a video full of verve and colour.
Further news comes as Steve has just been announced as an Executive Producer and soundtrack curator of The Nerdist’s first feature film acquisition ‘The Hive’, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. King-of-the-Geek’s Chris Hardwick and his team at The Nerdist debuted the first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, promising to deliver a combination of love, terror, amnesia and zombies.
Directed by up-and-coming writer and director David Yarovesky and produced by Cary Granat of ‘Scream 2’ and ‘Scream 3’ fame, the film was dubbed by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn as “The most horrifying and disgusting love story ever”. ‘The Hive’ is scheduled for an Autumn release.
Neon Future Part II was released in May and features Linkin Park, Matthew Koma, Snoop Lion, Rivers Cuomo and NERVO.
