Showcasing her breathtaking talent in yet another enthralling release, ‘stranger’ is the latest offering from Swedish neo-soul/R&B riser Lhēon, taken from her highly anticipated upcoming EP ‘Full Disclosure Pt.1’.
Boasting an impressive falsetto that beams with emotion and grit, the Melbourne based musician builds up a powerful crescendo throughout the track, fusing orchestral synths and groove-laden riffs with a retro meets modern flair. Her slick, sultry vocals marry the narrative perfectly, as she tells the tale of ‘anti-romance’, and longing for somebody in a manner that is dark and obsessive. Describing the track in further detail, she states “This body of work has been a long time coming and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created. Through a great collaboration with my producer, Lee Bradshaw, I believe this work shows who I am as an artist, and paying homage to the old soul and blending it with the neo-soul that I love! “stranger” is the black sheep of the EP and is something very different, and I love that. I think it’s gonna shock the people that have heard my earlier stuff – but in a good way! It was incredibly rewarding, testing my boundaries both vocally and with my writing in “stranger”.
Having churned out a string of successful singles throughout the past year and pandemic, Lhēon’s tenacity has not gone unnoticed, as she has racked up over 23,000 streams on her funky 2020 hit ‘pretend’. With her candid approach to songwriting a breath of fresh air on the scene, she looks set to have a promising year ahead of her as excitement builds for the release of ‘Full Disclosure Pt 1’.
