Swiss genre-defying producer/DJ/live artist Sensu drops ‘Perfect Life’, a collaboration with South London maestro Lawrence Hart and a foretaste of her summer EP ‘AM___PM’.
Sensu’s February single ‘Fuse’ won plaudits like Jaguar’s Dancefloor Moment, support from Pete Tong, Reprezent, Ben Malone on Kiss, SRF, Couleur3, Sirius… But then her playful melange of garage, post-DnB, hip hop and experimental electronica already won her Mixmag’s ‘Best EPs of 2022’, Montreux Jazz Festival’s Artist of the Month, and a Best Talent Swiss Music Award; and she’s just getting started.
‘Perfect Life’ keeps you on your toes and on your feet, as the pitch-shifted vocal riff and melodic synth chords suddenly speed up to a full-on dance frenzy, cut with two dreamy breakdowns to get your breath back.
Sensu: ‘I started writing this in London back in 2021. I loved the feeling it gave me, but it wasn’t quite there. Working on ‘AM___PM’ in 2022, I still loved it, so I reached out to Lawrence Hart. In his South London studio he showed me what he’d done so far – I was blown away. He created a monster, a deep, huge and emotional one. Then we worked for hours together, for a couple of months. Lawrence is a genius who focuses completely on the feeling the music gives him.’
Synth-hoarding DJ/producer Lawrence Hart’s own 2023 so far has already brought his headline live Peckham Audio show and his EP ‘Music For Dark Spaces’, with top level support from Danny Howard, Sian Eleri, Jaguar, Jess Izsatt… He’s also a sought-after producer (George Fitzgerald, Lil Silva…) and collaborator/remixer (lau.ra, Alan Fitzpatrick, Foals, Model Man).
