Having released material under a separate production guise in the past, picking up notable support from the likes of The Guardian amongst others, Polish brother/sister duo Rob and Sylwia, aka VONDA7, reactivate their band under their new Syr alias this winter with a debut EP which delves into deep, rich pockets of sound design whilst introducing more electronica driven territories. Living between Berlin and London, the duo produce effortlessly constructed rhythms via live instrument recordings and processed vocals with various effects, with the project set to provide a platform for Sylwia to explore a softer, more melodic side to her sound, accenting Robert’s background in sound design. Here we see the first offering of their new project as they reveal their ‘Little Wonders’ EP on art | werk this December.
Title cut ‘Little Wonders’ opens proceedings as the paring weave together infectious vocal hooks amongst airy atmospheres, bright keys and electronic bass stabs to offer up a euphoric opener, before trickling into the paired back ‘1:11’ which slowly introduces emotive melodies, hazy background tones and blossoming synth lines throughout.
