T IN THE PARK’S NEW HOME IS A BIG HIT WITH FESTIVAL FANS

T in the Park’s brand new home, Strathallan Castle, has been hailed a huge hit by festival fans today (Friday 22nd May), as festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager welcomed a group of excited fans for a first look at the site which will host the festival for the first time this July. Around 20 competition winners were joined by members of the local communities surrounding Strathallan – many of whom have displayed wooden red T signs in their homes and in local businesses to show their support of T in the Park – for a sneak peek at the new site.

After being introduced to the site by festival organisers DF Concerts, fans were shown the exact spot that headliners Kasabian, Avicii, The Libertines and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and many more will rock the crowd on the Main Stage, before being invited in to Strathallan Castle for a house-warming party, which featured surprise performances from T in the Park acts including local heroes and fan favourites Kyle Falconer and Rennie from The View, Admiral Fallow and DJs from Slam plus rising stars Tijuana Bibles.

T in the Park founding partner Tennent’s Lager offered fans a taste of a brand new bar experience which they will bring to the festival in 2015, with fans sampling Tennent’s-based cocktails which will be available at this year’s festival for the first time.

Fans travelled from far and wide to get a first glimpse at the site, including a couple who made the trip from Manchester and fans who journeyed from Elgin in the north of Scotland. All were thrilled to be given the opportunity to be the first to see Strathallan Castle.

T in the Park fan Keiran Mitchell said: “The new site is very classy. There’s character everywhere. Even the trees make a big difference. There was a really good buzz amongst fans as we approached the site, everyone’s really excited. On the way here when we were travelling through the villages near-by, we were surprised by how many people had T signs up in their windows. It was really nice and welcoming.”

T in the Parker Jessica Walker said: “Strathallan Castle is brilliant. The fact it’s not one flat area makes it really cool – it’s all hidden and you need to go and try and find the stages. I’m really looking forward to coming back in July and exploring. It’s very exciting to be one of the first fans on site.”

The new site proved a big hit with the bands too.

Kyle Falconer from The View said: “T in the Park is the best festival in the world. The new site is amazing, I’m going to try and sky dive in this year.”

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: “Today we were delighted to offer some T in the Parkers a first glimpse at our new home, Strathallan Castle. It was wonderful to see such an incredible reaction from fans – there was a real buzz of excitement as they arrived on site. The grounds of the estate are breathtakingly beautiful, and we’re sure our audience will take Strathallan Castle to their hearts the way they did Balado. We can’t wait to see you all in July.”

George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager, said: “As founding partner of the festival, Tennent’s Lager are proud to have been the T at the heart of T in the Park since the festival began. This year we are celebrating the arrival of an exciting new chapter by bringing a very special Tennent’s Lager bar experience to Strathallan Castle. With its own roof terrace beer garden with spectacular views of the arena, the bar promises to be a really positive additional enhancement to the festival experience.”

Local resident Terri Gow said: “My husband, four children and myself live within the new T in the Park site and we’re very pleased TITP’s planning application has been approved. We are very much looking forward to seeing things around the estate changing on the lead up to the festival. The most exciting part of course will be the festival itself and we just cannot wait. I am so proud of how our community has come together to show their support for T in the Park and DF Concerts.”

With some of the biggest names in music heading for Scotland this summer, T in the Park’s debut outing at Strathallan Castle is already shaping up to be an unmissable weekend over 10th – 12th July.
