TATE SEDAR and Liv Kennedy provide their upbeat take on heartbreak in riveting single “Our Goodbye”

Radio artist TATE SEDAR and rising singer/songwriter Liv Kennedy join forces in “Our Goodbye,” transforming the traditional breakup song into an upbeat, revelatory anthem perfect for summer radio. With its riveting energy and infectious lyrics, this track, a hallmark of their friendship since college, seamlessly blends satin melodies, unique lyricism, and TATE’s signature post-EDM sound, combining both analog and digital elements. After a three-year journey and multiple instrumental iterations, “Our Goodbye” stands as a fresh challenge to the format of love songs and the modern electronic-pop anthem.

Kennedy’s lyrics delve into the hardest part of a breakup: the goodbye. Her intuitive topline evokes longing and relatable dating anecdotes, effectively capturing the bittersweet nature of the end of long-term relationships or situationships. Liv’s voice beautifully wavers through pensive emotions, while TATE’s energetic, major-key drops symbolize the epiphany to move on from failed romance. Drawing inspiration from electropop acts like Ke$ha, Taio Cruz, and Katy Perry, as well as the ‘golden age’ of EDM (2010-2016), SEDAR pushes the boundaries of both electronic and pop music. His post-EDM signature sound evolves traditional instrumentation by incorporating both acoustic instruments and digital sounds.

Originally written over a somber, minor-key instrumental, “Our Goodbye” underwent a significant transformation. SEDAR took the time to recreate the instrumental to reflect the songwriting rather than the other way around. This period of growth allowed TATE to fully develop his post-EDM sound, eloquently exhibited through the hybrid sounds and themes of the human experience in this track. As TATE reflects, “I feel like it was a track I was always supposed to make; it was meant to be.”

In “Our Goodbye,” TATE SEDAR and Liv Kennedy have created an anthem that not only challenges traditional breakup songs but also resonates with the universal experience of moving on. This track is set to become a staple in the soundtrack of summer and beyond, marking a significant milestone in both artists’ careers.
